PRAYER FOR THE HOLY SPIRIT’S DIRECTION IN THE NEW YEAR
Thank you Lord for all that you’ve allowed into our lives this past year, the good along with the hard things, which have reminded us how much we need you & rely on your presence every day.
We pray for your Spirit to lead us each step of this New Year. We ask that you will guide our decisions & turn our hearts to deeply desire you above all else. Help us to pursue you first, above every dream & desire that you have put within our hearts.
We ask this through Christ Our Lord.
Amen.

SUNDAY OF THE WORD OF GOD,
SUNDAY NEXT, 26TH JANUARY
Pope Francis has established that the Third Sunday of Ordinary time is to be the “Sunday of The Word of God”. This is to create an awareness of the importance of God’s Word to us.
The Sunday Mass is a gathering where the Faith Community comes together in a particular place, the Church, to hear the Word of God, to receive the Eucharist & to pray together. We are also asked to be mindful that each Sacrament we receive is founded & constructed on the Word of God. This should lead us to a greater awareness of its role in our lives.
This Sunday also asks us to reflect on how we honour & proclaim the Word. It is a Sunday too of special interest for Ministers of the Word who proclaim it to us & for us.
The Word of God for each Sunday is very well explained in the Mass leaflets we use each weekend & also on the back page of the newsletter. May the Word of God be in our hearts, in our words & in our lives.
