REVERENCE
The Gift of Reverence indicates our belonging to God & our profound relationship with Him. This relationship with the Lord is not intended as a duty or an imposition. It is our friendship with God, granted to us by Jesus, a friendship that changes our life & fills us with joy. Reverence, therefore, is that capacity to pray to God with the love & simplicity that belongs to those who are humble of heart.
The Gift of Reverence means to be truly capable of rejoicing with those who rejoice, of weeping with those who weep, of being close to those who are lonely or in anguish, of welcoming and helping those in need.
The Gift of reverence which the Holy Spirit gives us makes us gentle, makes us calm, makes us patient, keeps us at peace with God and at the service of others with gentleness.

Ár dTeanga Féin
An Té a Bhíonn Thuas Óltar Deoch Air, An Té a Bhíonn Thíos Buailtear Cos Air.
When you’re at the top you’re a hero but when you’re at the bottom you are zero (friendless). Literally, when you’re up they toast you but when you’re down they trample on you. The fickleness of human nature!
BAIN TRIAIL AS:
Luigh sé cos orm. He pit his foot down.
Sunday of the Word of God
On Sunday next, 22nd January we celebrate the Sunday of the Word of God in both our Churches, 9.30am in Farran & 11.30am in Ovens.
In September 2019, Pope Francis announced that he was setting aside the Third Sunday in Ordinary Time every year as the “Sunday of The Word of God”. As is evident from the Logo, Pope Francis takes his inspiration from St. Luke’s account of the First Easter Sunday afternoon when two Disciples of Jesus were going from Jerusalem to Emmaus.
The Word of God was central to Christ’s preaching & is central in the Church’s preaching.
As a way of celebrating the very special place that the Word of God occupies in our coming to faith & the living out of our faith, Pope Francis invites us to enthrone the Word of God in our Churches.
Enthronement Ceremony
At the beginning of Mass the Bible will be carried in procession from the entrance of the Church to a specially prepared place in the sanctuary, where the Bible is left open in this place during the Mass.
Recommissioning of the Ministers of the Word
We invite all Ministers of the Word in Farran & Ovens to a Recommissioning Ceremony during Mass on Sunday. next.
SCRIPTURE REFLECTION FOR THE WEEK
