FEAST OF THE ASCENSION
This Sunday, 21st May we celebrate the Feast of the Ascension of Jesus Christ into Heaven. It is one of the ecumenical feasts of Christian Churches, ranking with the feasts of the Passion and Pentecost.
The Risen Jesus appeared for 40 days before His Ascension. This feast was originally celebrated on a Thursday and was a Church Holiday. Some years ago it was moved to the following Sunday.

THE MONTH OF MAY
May is marked with “Alleluias” as we celebrate the Resurrection and live into the Easter joy we proclaim. May is also marked by the Church in its dedication of the month to Mary.
From the Annunciation to Pentecost, Mary appears as someone whose freedom is completely open to God’s will and shows us how to live in God’s word.
In this month of May, may we turn to Mary in our times of joy and sorrow and ask her to continue to show us the way to her Son.
As we strive to grow in faith and live more fully in God’s word, may we, like Mary, bring Christ to others.

FAMILY OF PARISHES
The Third Prayer Service will take place in St. James’ Church, Ballinora, on Tuesday the 30th May at 7.30pm.
As it will be the Tuesday following Pentecost Sunday, it will be a Reflection on the Fruits of the Holy Spirit in our lives.

SCRIPTURE REFLECTION FOR THE WEEK
Turn to the Sun
Let the rays of the sun permeate your soul. Sunlight, apart from being a good source of vitamin D, staves off those melancholy moments and injects hopefulness and vibrancy into your day.
For Further Reflection
Matthew 13:43
