LENTEN RETREAT
Thanks to all who took part in our Lenten Retreat last weekend from 19th to 21st March. Thanks also to the Parish Assembly and to all who took part in arranging it and in carrying it out. It was facilitated by Fr. Laurence Gallagher, a Redemptorist Priest, and was very well attended. We thank him for the time & preparation he put into it.

He also met with the Confirmation young people of Ovens & Farran schools on Monday & Tuesday mornings respectively, as part of their preparation for Confirmation after Easter.
Our sincere thanks to him and to all who arranged & attended it.
Refreshments provided in the parish centre on the final night were also much appreciated.

Confirmation
Fruits of the Holy Spirit

Self-Control helps us to resist temptation and avoid conforming to the things of this world. It guides our decisions, and it relates to how we show the other Fruits in our lives.
For example, Patience, requires self-control. Self-control can be applied to all of the Fruits of the Spirit in the same way it is applied to patience.
Displaying self-control is often a matter of responding rather than reacting. When we react to a situation, we let our emotions take control. We are more likely to become defensive and say hurtful things. Responding however, involves developing a thoughtful response that is guided by reason more than emotions.
As Christians, our responses to situations are to be guided by the fruits of the Spirit.
With the Holy Spirit within us, we are able to possess self-control and demonstrate it and all the Fruits of the Spirit.
