JUNE, THE MONTH OF THE SACRED HEART OF JESUS
Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus began about the year 1672.
Jesus appeared to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, a Visitation Nun in France. During these Apparitions He explained to her the Devotion to His Sacred Heart. He asked to be honoured through the symbol of his heart of love. He asked for repentance, frequent Holy Communion, the keeping of the First Friday and the practice of making the holy hour.

Jesus shows us what God is like.
Through the symbol of the heart, Jesus is pointing to the Love of God, telling us that God Loves us, all of us, always. “For this is how God loved the world: He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him may not perish but may have eternal life”. The heart of Jesus reveals that God is not cold and distant, but has a warm, tender and loving concern for humanity and for all of creation. Love only love, is the motive of all that Jesus Christ did and said and suffered.

CORPUS CHRISTI
Next Sunday is the Feast of Corpus Christi, when we celebrate Jesus’ Real Presence with us in the Eucharist, in the Mass & in Holy Communion.
To celebrate Corpus Christi we will once again have our Eucharistic Procession and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament after the 11.30am Mass in Ovens Church.

We invite the First Holy Communion children to lead the procession down the Church, followed by the Church Choir, the congregation, altar servers & the Blessed Sacrament carried by Fr. Liam.
The Procession will turn left at the main door, out the side gate, pass the Grotto, in the main gate & into the Church for Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament.
Members of the Parish Assembly will be in attendance to assist with the stewarding.
We invite all parishioners to be present for this lovely occasion.

This year, there is a new route concluding at the Ss. Peter and Paul’s Church for a Homily and Benediction celebrated by Most Rev. Fintan Gavin, Bishop of Cork and Ross.
All are invited to join to be part of a Diocesan Faith Community walking together in Procession.

First Holy Communion Children and their families are especially welcome.

WEEKLY SCRIPTURE REFLECTION
Turn to the Sun
Let the rays of the sun permeate your soul. Sunlight, apart from being a good source of Vitamin D, staves off those melancholy moments & injects hopefulness and vibrancy into your day.

For Further Reflection:
Matthew 13:43

ÁR DTEANGA FÉIN
Is Maith an Cairde Lá Fada Samhraidh
A long summer’s day is good ‘credit’. A sunny day in June offers a welcome respite. Daylight extends to it’s maximum in June. Enjoy. Summer is really here.

AN EXAM PRAYER
God stay close to me today, guide my study & light my way.
Ease my nerves & comfort me with peace & love so tenderly.
May I remember the things I need & understand all I study & read.
May I strive to give my best & do myself justice in each test.
May the topics I know & like appear on the exam paper.
And during the moments I may feel stressed I’ll try to remember the ways I’m blessed.
And if there are times that I feel at sea, help me to trust that you’re here with me.
Amen.

As they start their exams on Wednesday next, 7th June, may we wish all students every success.
