THE MONTH OF MAY
May is marked with “Alleluias” as we celebrate the Resurrection and live into the Easter joy we proclaim. May is also marked by the Church in it’s dedication of the month to Mary.
From the Annunciation to Pentecost, Mary appears as someone whose freedom is completely open to God’s will and shows us how to live in God’s word.
In this month of May, may we turn to Mary in our times of joy and sorrow and ask her to continue to show us the way to her Son. As we strive to grow in faith and live more fully in God’s word, may we, like Mary, bring Christ to others.
A CHILD’S PRAYER OF THANKS
Thank you, God, for everything,
The flowers that bloom, the birds that sing.
For health and freedom, games and fun.
The trees, the grass, the stars, the sun.
I thank you for the daily bread,
happy homes and cosy beds.
For Mothers love and Fathers care,
Hear my Lord, my grateful prayer.
Amen.
Reflection given by Eilís Casey & Lorraine Buckley of Cork & Ross Mission & Ministry Office at Ovens/Farran Ministry Thanksgiving Mass on 18th April in Ovens Church.
Part 2:
We are reminded of the countless individuals who generously give of their time, talents, and gifts to serve the Church and this parish of Ovens and Farran.
Each ministry and act of service reflects the love of Christ within our parish community.
What does it truly mean to serve? It is to take Christ as our model, to humble ourselves, and to put the needs of others before our own.
Let us not forget the priests who shepherd and guide us with wisdom and compassion, leading by example in their own ministries of service.
Together, we form the Body of Christ, each of us playing a unique role in building up the Kingdom of God here on earth.
Let us pray for the continued grace to serve one another with humility, love, and joy, imitating the selfless example of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Pause for a moment of silent prayer.
Heavenly Father, we thank you for the gift of community and for the opportunity to serve you in various capacities within our parish. Bless all those who serve with generous hearts and grant us the grace to continue our mission of spreading your love and mercy to all we encounter. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
