LENT 2024
This Wednesday, 14th February is Ash Wednesday.
It is a time to reflect on our lives and on the way we live them. It is a time also to look at our priorities and perhaps a time to begin again. Lent provides us very much with that opportunity and also the opportunity to deepen our Faith and the living out of it.

ASH WEDNESDAY MASS TIMES
Ovens: 9.30am.
Farran: 7pm.
The Ashes will be blessed at the Masses.

The Ashes used on Ash Wednesday come from the palm of last year’s Palm/Passion Sunday. Fresh and green then, now ashes. It is a very powerful visual aid.
Ashes will be available after both Masses to take home for family members.

What to do for Lent
People often wonder what to do for Lent. Perhaps the following or some part of it may be helpful, especially as Friday is a special day during Lent.
Forms of Friday Observance during Lent:
The following are suggested ways of fulfilling Friday Observance:
Abstaining from meat or some other food.
Abstaining from alcoholic drink or smoking.
Making a special effort to participate in Mass on Fridays.
Making a special effort at involvement in family prayer.
Visiting the Blessed Sacrament.
Making the Stations of the Cross.
Fasting from all food for a longer period than usual & perhaps giving what is saved to the needy.
Helping the poor, sick, old or lonely.

STATIONS OF THE CROSS FOR LENT
Ovens: Saturday next, 17th February, after the 7pm Mass.
Farran: Saturday, 24th February, after the 7pm Mass.

TRÓCAIRE BOXES
Trócaire Boxes available in the porches of both Churches.
