“DAY FOR LIFE”
A dedicated day celebrating the beauty & dignity of all human life.
On this Sunday, 16th June, the Church will mark Day for Life 2024 with a message on the theme: The Lord is my shepherd-Compassion & Hope at the End of Life.
The Day for life Sunday is celebrated annually with a special message by the Catholic Church across Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales. It is a day specifically dedicated to raising awareness and reflecting on the deep value and meaning of human life at every stage, and in every condition.
This year’s message reminds us that Jesus did not send the sick away, rather He showed that life always has dignity & that there is no such a thing as a useless life.

A BLESSING
May you never be afraid of growing old.
Count the seasons not the years.
May each of the four seasons bring you something new, wonderful and beautiful.
May the gentle and serene song of the robin in the dull days of winter fill you with joy as you realise he sings in anticipation of the coming spring.
May the wondrous notes of the blackbird in the hush of a summer’s evening fill your heart with songs of praise to Him who gives such pleasures in His creation.
May you never feel you have lost your way as you travel the circle of life. For as sure as the leaves fall in autumn and winter, the buds are already forming for yet another spring. So when you are old in years, already you are putting on the bloom of eternal youth to live forever with Him who said “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life”.
Composed by Barry G. Shanahan.

FEAST OF ST. ANTHONY
Thursday last, 13th June was the Feast of St. Anthony.
St. Anthony of Padua reached out to everyone, finding those who had been lost from God & helping them all to come back towards Him.
Let us all therefore be reminded of the need for each and every one of us to renew our faith and commitment to the Lord. Through the words of the Lord and the life and actions of St. Anthony of Padua, all of us are reminded that as Christians, each and every one of us must indeed centre and focus our whole lives, our attention and all of our efforts on the Lord. May the Lord our Loving God continue to strengthen us in faith so that by our every words, actions and deeds we may continue to glorify Him and proclaim Him and His Good News to all the people around us. If the cap fits, wear it. Díol means satisfaction or, simply, enough. Choose what really appeals to you.
Can also be said with sarcasm, of course.
