Pope Leo X1V
Bishop Gavin has welcomed the election of Cardinal Robert Prevost
As our new Pope. He has taken the name of Pope Leo X1V.
Our new Pope belongs to the
Augustinian order, which is one of the oldest religious orders in the Catholic Church.
He has been a Bishop in Peru up
Until last year, where many of Priests and nuns of our Diocese have spent time as Missionaries.
In his speech he has emphasised the need for unity in both the church and the World.
He looks like , and has been described as a kind man.
It was also said of him in an interview that he is not afraid to say No,
But will do so in a caring fashion.
He is an American, with connections to south America, but also the rest of the world. What this church needs now is a unifying force. What this world needs now is a unifying force. Who knows, he may not be the man to do it, but he may go a good way towards it.
Time will tell.
