A Prayer for Friendship
(In challenging times)
May you be blessed with good friends,
And learn to be a good friend yourself.
Journeying in that place in your soul
Where there is love, warmth and feeling.
May it transfigure what is negative, distant or cold within your heart.
May you be brought to a new kindness and belonging.
May you treasure your friends,
May you be good to them, be there for them
And receive all the challenges, truth and light you need.
May you never be isolated, but know the embrace of your Anam Cara.
John O’Donoghue
Returning to Mass and the Sacraments
It is great that we have been able to return to Mass and the Sacraments since 29th June.
In keeping with 2 metre distancing and HSE guidelines the capacity of Ovens Church is 46 and Farran Church 45. This is fine for weekday Masses, but weekend Masses are, of course, challenging. To help in this the obligation of Sunday Mass has been suspended for the present.
Many are choosing to come to Mass on week days, as their Sunday Mass, and it is great to see the increased numbers. It is also more suitable for those who may feel vulnerable in any way, again good to see. To help in this, and perhaps to facilitate those who may be working during the day, the Monday Mass in Ovens will be at 7.30pm (No morning Mass).
Weekend Mass Times:
Ovens: Vigil: Saturday @ 7.30pm. Sunday @ 11.30am. (Both Masses will be streamed live).
Farran: Vigil: Saturday @ 6pm. Sunday @ 9.30am. (Not streamed).
Loud speakers installed outside both Churches. There are also chairs outside.
Weekday Masses this week:
Ovens: 7.30pm Monday,
9.30am Wednesday and Friday (All streamed live).
Farran: 9.30am Tuesday and Thursday. (Not streamed).
Live Streaming of Masses:
The Masses at St. John the Baptist Church Ovens are live streamed. This will assist the sick and housebound and those who may feel vulnerable in any way at the moment. They will be able to link with their Parish Faith Community in the Masses and in prayer. It will also, of course, link us in prayer with our people living elsewhere in our own country or in any part of the world. ovensparish.com
Offertory Collection
As you may know the baskets may no longer be passed around, in keeping with HSE guidelines. There are special boxes at each door where contributions may be made at entry or exit.
We have also received requests from people attending weekday Masses, as their Sunday Mass, that the boxes would be available on week days. In response to these requests we are pleased to do so.
