A BLESSING FOR THE WEEK
May the breath of God bring you blessing.
May you know unconditional love in the gentle breeze of God’s presence.
May God breathe into you a contemplative spirit,
A spirit of love, a spirit of peace.
And may you breathe a spirit of trust into the life around you.
May the breath of God bless you.
Amen.
Second Collection
The Annual Collection for the Holy Places was not taken up in Churches on Good Friday this year due to the closure of Churches at the time.. This collection will now be held this weekend, 12th/13th September. Baskets will be placed at the entrance and exit doors of the Churches for this special collection.
The money is for the upkeep of the Holy Places in the Holy Land.
Economic Use of Church Seating Arrangements
It would be appreciated if those who are first to occupy a seat, whether an individual or a couple, would move to the inside of the seat, making it more obvious to those who are looking for a seat that a space is available and that they are free to occupy the outside section of the seat. Families may, of course, sit together, as can couples.
There are stewards at the weekend Masses in both churches and they will guide people to their seats. The capacity in our Churches is 46.
FIRST HOLY COMMUNION 2020
The First Holy Communion Ceremonies this year were, of course, postponed due to the Coronavirus. This was a very big disappointment to the children, their families and teachers who had been preparing so well together.
These have now been rescheduled and will take place, Please God, in the coming weeks, safely and in accordance with Government and HSE guideline and with restricted members.
They will be as follows:
Scoil Mhuire Farran:
Saturday 19th September at 10am & 12noon.
Scoil na nUamhanna Ovens:
Saturday 26th September at 10am and 12noon.
Saturday 3rd October at 10am and 12noon.
Sincere thanks to the children, Principals, Teachers and families for their work and preparation in this. The ceremonies will of necessity be very different, but they will be equally beautiful and well prepared and in keeping with the importance of the children receiving Jesus for the first time in Holy Communion.
There is also a three part series on the Diocesan Website on “Preparing for First Confession & First Holy Communion”. This is produced by I Catholic. It is beautifully done and is very helpful for parents preparing with their children. It may also be accessed through the Parish Website: ovensparish.com “Preparing for First Confession & First Holy Communion”.
Please remember the children in your prayers and also their teachers and families and parish, that they may prepare safely together.

BISHOP FINTAN GAVIN’S LETTER TO CHAIRPERSON & BOARD OF MANAGEMENT MEMBERS
I write to wish you well as your school reopens to welcome pupils during these days. These are difficult and challenging times for principals and school staff as well as the pupils and their families. I know that Chairpersons and Board of Management members have been working hard to support their schools. Schools face huge challenges to prepare for a safe reopening and the contribution of Chairpersons and BOM members has been central to that task.
I realise that Chairpersons and BOM members work continuously throughout the year on a voluntary basis to support school communities. This has been very evident in recent months as schools adapted to a new landscape. I want you now that I really appreciate your voluntary work in supporting our Catholic schools.
Catholic school communities form part of a wider parish and faith community.
On behalf of those parish communities and, on my own behalf, I wish to thank you for your work and I want you to know that it is greatly valued by so many people.
Le gach dea ghuí.
Bishop Fintan Gavin.

Thank You
Fr. Liam and the Finance Committee sincerely thank all parishioners for their generous support during the lockdown, & particularly since the easing of restrictions allowed Mass in the Churches to be resumed.
This has enabled the parish to meet the various expenses that are essential to the operation and upkeep of our churches and functions.
The ‘Tax-Back’ system, which has generated a tax refund of €3,825 this year is also a substantial support to our finances and is always open to new participants.
Your support is greatly appreciated.
