A MESSAGE FROM BISHOP FINTAN, LEVEL 3 RESTRICTIONS & PARISH LIFE. COVID 19
Following the Government announcement that the entire country should be elevated to Level 3 the following changes took place from midnight 6th October.
Public Worship: Churches should remain open for personal prayer but not for the celebration of Mass with a congregation (no public present). This is like the situation that applied before 29th June.
Masses are to continue to be celebrated without a congregation & should be live streamed via Church webcam where installed or Facebook live, so that parishioners can stay connected. Such means of communication have proved very helpful when Churches were closed to public worship from the 14th of March to 29th June.. I would encourage you to use such means of communication to give messages of hope and solidarity to parishioners in these difficult times.
Funerals: From Wednesday, 7th October, up to 25 people will be allowed to attend funerals of loved ones, to pay their respects and to grieve together. This means that immediate family members and close relatives, not exceeding 25 persons, may attend funeral Masses, burials and cremations, provided that Social Distancing and hand hygiene rules are adhered to.
Weddings: Up to 25 persons can attend the celebration of Marriage in a Church.
Baptisms: Baptisms are not to take place until further notice.
Meetings: As no organised indoor gatherings are to take place, in-person parish meetings are not to take place until further notice.
THANK YOU
Sincere thanks to all who have worked together to ensure that both our Churches have been open for prayer, the Mass and the Sacraments since last June & to all who attended.
Thanks to the Parish Assembly, Parish Finance Committee, Sacristans, Stewards, Ministers of the Word and Eucharist & the young people who read the Prayers of the Faithful.
Please God we will continue again shortly and in the meantime may we all be safe.
