A PRAYER FOR NOVEMBER
Lord God, whose days are without end and whose mercies beyond counting,
keep us mindful that life is short and the hour of death unknown.
Let your Spirit guide our days on earth in the ways of holiness and justice,
that we may serve you in union with the whole Church, sure in faith, strong in hope, perfect in love.
And when our earthly journey is ended, lead us rejoicing into your kingdom, where you live forever and ever.
Amen.
We remember our Dead always, but especially in November. It is good to see so many visiting our cemeteries.
There is a very unique record in our parish of those who died going back one hundred years. This week we remember those who died in 1920. Many familiar family names appear.

NOVEMBER NOVENA
Our November Novena for the dead this year was, of course, very different. But it was so important that we were able to join through the Mass and Prayer Via Webcam. Though apart we were one in prayer, linked together in Ovens Church.
It also gave us the opportunity to remember our people who died in the last year and also to link with their families.
Sincere thanks to all who took part, Monsignor Kevin O’Callaghan, the Funeral Ministry Team, Ministers of the Word & Mary O’Callaghan for making the arrangements for the Tree of Remembrance, the lights on the Cross etc. and, of course, to all who joined in Prayer.
I measc na Naoimh go raibh ár Marbh uile.
AUTUMN DUES
The Autumn Dues envelopes are being distributed at present to the Station Areas. Most areas will have received them already, The remaining areas will receive them shortly.
Please return them at your earliest convenience.
Sincere thanks to all who contribute and to those who distribute them.
LEARNING ABOUT THE MASS WITH KATH & QUMEN
Last week we learned about the Creed and the Prayer of the Faithful.
We now move on to the Liturgy of the Eucharist, we bring our gifts. During this part of the Mass we come to share in the Bread of Life at the altar. The most important gifts are the Bread and Wine. The bread is placed on the paten, which looks like a plate and the wine is in a glass jug.
The priest stands behind the altar and holds up the paten with the bread on it and says a prayer of blessing to God. He then pours wine into the chalice. The chalice is a special cup and can be made of either gold or silver. The priest pours a drop of water into the wine. He then holds up the chalice and says a prayer of blessing to God again. The Priest says a prayer over the gifts which is different at every Mass
