FEAST OF CHRIST THE KING
On this Sunday, 22nd November we celebrate the Feast of Our Lord Jesus Christ, the Universal King. It is the last Sunday of Ordinary Time and the last Sunday of the Church’s Year. Next Sunday will be the first Sunday of Advent.
If Jesus Christ is a king, His kingdom, as He declares to Pilate, is not of this world. When Jesus was questioned at his trial: “Are you a King?” His answer serves to highlight how different his kingship is from that of human rulers.
God is always present to His people, and acts by means we cannot see or know, except by the clear evidence of love shown and suffering accepted, of love that is stronger than death.

This is the sign of God’s Kingdom. Christ is a King who rules by mercy and forgiveness. At the end of our earthly life we will be judged on how we have lived and acted. At the end of time the Kingdom of God will be established through the saving work of Christ.

We will have Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament in Ovens Church, 1pm to 6pm. Rosary will be recited on the Hour, commencing at 1pm, with the Chaplet of Mercy at 3pm.
The Exposition will conclude with Benediction at 6pm. And will be Live Streamed on churchservices.tv/ovens

PRAYER TO CHRIST THE KING
O Lord our God, You alone are the Most Holy King and Ruler of all nations.
We pray to You, Lord, in the great expectation of receiving from You, O Divine King, mercy, peace, justice and all good things.
Protect, O Lord our King, our families and the land of our birth.
Forgive us, O Sovereign King, our sins against you.
Jesus, You are a King of mercy.
Have mercy on us, Lord, and forgive us.
We trust in Your Great Mercy. Amen.

WE REMEMBER
Over the years we have gathered on the first Sunday of November in our cemeteries, Cemetery Sunday, to remember and to pray for our dead. Unfortunately, it was not possible to do so this year. However, many people visited our cemeteries, cared for their graves and those of others and, of course, prayed for their dead and blessed their graves with Holy Water. This was also evidenced by the number of copies of the Prayer Service which were made available at both Ovens and Farran Churches and were collected and used by so many.
In place of our Annual November gathering, on Monday week, 30th November the 7.30pm Mass will be offered for the dead of our cemeteries, Athnowen, Eaglais, Kilcrea & Ovens and for the Priests who are buried at Ovens and Farran Churches. The Mass will be Live Streamed from Ovens Church. It would be fitting that as we were unable to gather together in our cemeteries in November this year we can link together in prayer and remembrance from Ovens Church through the Mass. That is on Monday week, 30th November at 7.30pm on churchservices.tv/ovens.

We let the well known Prayer speak to us:
We Remember
The Response is We Remember Them
In the rising of the sun and its going down………….We remember them
In the blowing of the wind and the chill of the winter………..We remember them
In the opening of the buds and the warmth of summer………We remember them
In the rustling of the leaves and in the beauty of autumn……….We remember them
In the beginning of the year and when it ends……….We remember them
When we are weary and in need of strength……….We remember them
When we are lost and sick of heart……….
We remember them
When we have joys we y earn to share……….We remember them
So long as we live, they too shall live, for they are part of us as……….We remember them
When we grow old and forgetful we still know……….God remembers them
