LÁ FHÉILE NAOMH PÁDRAIG 2021
Wednesday week, 17th March is Lá Fhéile Naomh Pádraig/St. Patrick’s Day. It is a special day which resonates with our people at home and all over the World. It will be especially so this year, as many of our people abroad will be unable to come home to visit family and friends & were also unable to do so last Summer or for Christmas.
In our Masses on St. Patrick’s Day we reach out to our people wherever they may be. We will do so through the World Wide Web of Webcam. Our Masses will be at the usual weekend times of Vigil at 7.30pm on the 16th and 9.30am and 11.30am on Lá Fhéile Naomh Pádraaig.
All Masses live streamed from Ovens Church.
AN INVITATION FROM BISHOP FINTAN
The parishioners of the Diocese of Cork and Ross are invited to join in a series of short reflections each Wednesday afternoon during Lent at 1.30pm.
They will be live streamed on both the Diocesan Facebook and You Tube channels.
Details of links to join in this short reflection are available on the Diocesan Website.

EDUCATION
If you are thinking a year ahead – Sow seed.
If you are thinking 10 years ahead – Plant a tree.
If you are thinking 100 years ahead – Educate the people.
By sowing a seed, you harvest once.
By planting a tree, you harvest tenfold.
By educating the people, you will harvest a hundredfold.
BREAD OF THE WORD
It has been said that “Education is truth in a state of transmission”. There is a movement from the teacher who transmits to the hearer who learns.
Jesus came to do and teach.
One day a great throng gathered round him. He had compassion on them because they were hungry, and he gave them bread. His heart also went out to them because “they were like sheep without a shepherd, and He began to teach them many things. (Mark 6:34). He fed them with the bread of the word.
Only a few days before His death, “every day He was teaching in the temple”. (Luke 21:37).
The Church remains faithful to its teaching mission. It keeps teaching daily and its message is for “all the people”, day after day, always fresh and new, a lamp for our steps, presenting the splendour of the truth.
We can rejoice in the Gospel message because it is the Good News.
Lord, help us to be always attentive and faithful to your teaching.
RESTRICTIONS ARE NOT EASY
A Prayer
We do not know what the coming weeks will bring, but we will face them together.
But we are still connected and our community spirit is strong.
The important thing is that we and those we love are safe.
Let us Pray:
Take some time this week to appreciate all you have and all that is good in your life.
Take time to think it is the source of all power.
Take time to play, it is the source of everlasting youth.
Take time to be quiet, it is the opportunity to seek God.
Take time to be aware, it is the opportunity to help others.
Take time to love and be loved, it is God’s greatest gift.
Take time to give, it is too short a day to be selfish.
Take time to laugh, it is the music of the soul.
Take time to dream, it is what the future is made.
Take time to pray, it is the greatest power on earth. Amen.
