HOLY WEEK 2021
(AN TSEACHTAIN MÓR 2021)

Holy Week 2021 begins on Sunday next 28th March, Palm Sunday/Passion Sunday. We remember how Jesus was received into Jerusalem with great ceremony, but within a matter of days things would have changed utterly. During Holy Week we remember the Passion & Death of Jesus & very importantly, the Resurrection on Easter Sunday morning. We are mindful too that on Holy Thursday night Jesus gave us the First Mass at the Last Supper & through this He is with us always through the Mass until the end of time.
Unfortunately, this year once again the Easter Ceremonies cannot be celebrated with a congregation due to continuing Government Covid 19 Restrictions, neither can the Dawn Mass of The Resurrection be held at Kilcrea Abbey. But we will be able to celebrate the ceremonies on line and Via Webcam and from our own homes or wherever we are. It is so important that we would.
There are no restrictions to God’s presence with us.
On Palm Sunday, the palm will be blessed at each of our online Masses from Ovens Church. It would be very fitting if people joining in the online Masses would have their own piece of palm with them and they will be blessed virtually during Mass. As in previous years, some palm crosses will be available in both Ovens & Farran Churches on Palm Sunday and Good Friday, for those visiting the Church for private Prayer.

HOLY WEEK MASSES
Holy Thursday: Mass of the Last Supper at 7.30pm. Via the Webcam from Ovens Church.
Good Friday: Stations of the Cross:
Farran Church at 12noon. Live Streamed & through the Parish Website.
Ovens Church at 3pm. Live Streamed on the Webcam.

Holy Saturday: Celebration of the Easter Vigil
Bishop Fintan has requested that each Parish would join with him as a Diocesan Family to celebrate the Easter Vigil in the Cathedral of St. Mary & St Anne at 9pm. This will be live streamed from the Cathedral.
No ceremonies in Ovens Church on Holy Saturday.
Easter Sunday:
Ovens Church at 9.30am & 11.30am. Via the Webcam.

TRÓCAIRE BOXES
Trócaire boxes may be collected in the porches of both Ovens and Farran Churches.
Please support the Lenten Campaign.

ROSARY FOR LENT
The Rosary will be recited on the two remaining Mondays of Lent after the 7.30pm Mass.
If you are joining on the webcam for the Mass please “Remain On” to pray the Rosary together.

YEAR OF ST. JOSEPH
Pope Francis has designated this year as the “Year of St. Joseph” and asks us to pray this prayer to St. Joseph:
Hail, Guardian of the Redeemer, Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
To you God entrusted His only Son. In you Mary placed her trust, with you Christ became man.
Blessed Joseph, to us too, show yourself a father and guide us in the path of life.
Obtain for us grace, mercy and courage and defend us from every evil.
Amen.

THANK YOU FOR PARISH CONTRIBUTIONS
Sincere thanks to the Ovens and Farran parishioners for the support they have given for the upkeep of the parish services during a most difficult time.
Thanks to all who dropped in envelopes, also, for the contributions received using the on-line and direct debit system. We are also grateful for contributions from the shrines, and, of course, the tax-back system.
The Tax-Back System is still open to new members for 2020 and 2021, who are tax payers, and have contributed an average of at least €5 per week (€250 for a year). Contact; Fr. Liam for details.
Again, thanks to all who have helped in any way and who contribute in whatever way you do.
