OCTOBER, MONTH OF THE HOLY ROSARY
The month of October is dedicated to the Holy Rosary.
The 1st of October, Friday last, was the Feast Day of St. Therese of Lisieux. St. Therese, of course, had great devotion to Our Lady. On October 7th, this Thursday, we celebrate the Feast of the Holy Rosary.
Up to 2002 while praying the Rosary we meditated on the Joyful, Sorrowful and Glorious Mysteries. It was Pope St. John Paul 11 who added the five Luminous Mysteries in his Encyclical, Rosarium Virginis Marie.
On Saturday, 9th October, The Hail Holy Queen Conference will be on Radio Maria Ireland at 2pm. Guest speakers include Bishop John Keenan, Dr. Patrick Kenny, Fr. Gerry McCloskey and Dr. Blythe Kaufman.
COASTAL ROSARY
Sunday next, October 10th at 2.30pm in Ovens Church. We will join with people from around Ireland to pray the Rosary for Life & Faith.
All welcome.
ROSARY IN OVENS CHURCH
The Rosary will be recited in Ovens Church on Thursday next 7th October at 2.30pm. in honour of the Feast of the Holy Rosary.
LIFE’S CARES
What is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.
No time to stand beneath the boughs
And stare as long as sheep or cows.
No time to see when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass.
No time to see in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars, like skies at night.
No time to turn at Beauty’s glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance.
No time to wait till her mouth can enrich that smile her eyes began.
A poor life this if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.
By William Henry Davies.
