PRAYING THE PSALMS
Let this be written for ages to come that a people yet unborn may praise the Lord:
For the Lord leaned down from the sanctuary on high & looked down from Heaven to the Earth in order to hear the groans of the prisoners & free those condemned to die.

Psalm 102: 19 to 21.

A piece of bread, slice of fruit, cup of tea, became a sacred meal
When taken quietly, mindfully, in awareness alone with others.
A moment of togetherness, of sharing, of thanks, a celebration, a prayer of praise.

THIRD SUNDAY OF ADVENT
The 3rd Sunday in Advent is called Gaudete Sunday, from the Latin word meaning “Rejoice” which is taken from Philippians 4:4 to 5. the Entrance Antiphon of the day.
We light the pink candle on the Advent Wreath, called the “Joy” candle and the Priest wears Rose coloured vestments at Mass.

THE JESSE TREE
As we enter the third week of Advent we see God revealing himself to his Chosen People through their kings and prophets. Seven more symbols are hung from the Jesse Tree.
The Shepherd’s Crook: symbolises King David, a shepherd for the people. The Stone Altar: The Altar of the Lamb of God. The Empty Tent: symbolises the emptiness of life without God. Fire Tongs with hot coals: symbolises the Prophet Isaiah. Tears: symbolises life: Tears of Joy & Tears of Sadness.
The Stone Watchtower: Symbolises our need to be prepared & ready. The City Wall: symbolises the rebuilding of the walls of Jerusalem.

A CHRISTMAS THOUGHT
Mend a quarrel, Seek out a forgotten friend, Share some treasure, Give a soft answer, Encourage youth, Keep a promise, Find the time, Listen, apologise if you’re wrong, Be gentle, laugh a little, laugh a little more, Express your gratitude, Welcome a stranger, Gladden the heart of a child, Take pleasure in the beauty and wonder of earth, Speak your love, speak it again, speak it still once again and let your heart be filled with Christmas Joy.
