PRAYING THE PSALMS
Psalm 80
God of hosts, bring us back.
Let Your face shine on us and we shall be saved.

A PRAYER TOO FOR THE NEW YEAR
Time to sift the gold from the dross.
Separate what we need and what we want.
Letting go before we move into the light.

FEAST OF THE BAPTISM OF JESUS
This Sunday is the Feast Day of the Baptism of Jesus. Jesus was Baptised by John the Baptist who prepared the way for Him. The people were searching and John pointed them in the way of Jesus. A question for us all. In our life’s journey who have been the people who pointed us in the right direction?
We remember those who were with us on the day of our Baptisms, Parents, Sponsors, Priest, Family Members. Holy Saturday night at the renewal of our Baptismal Promises is a similar time.
In 2021 there were 90 children Baptised in our Parish. These were faith filled occasions for each family, even if Covid 19 provided its own challenges. But thank God we were able to do so safely with the co-operation of all.
Unfortunately, once again this year we will not be able to have our Annual Service of Prayer & Thanksgiving for all the children Baptised in 2021. But still we remember this Sunday each of those families that the Baptism of their child has been a grace filled moment for them.
We look forward to the time when we will be able to have our Saturday morning Preparation Meetings in the Parish Centre, where the Baptismal Preparation Team meets with the families to make arrangements for the baptism of their children.
Baptismal PreparationTeam:
Mary O’Callaghan, Dan Healy, Margo Murphy & Cáit & Geraldine McCarthy.

God’s help is nearer than the door. It is here, imminent—but, of course, you have to ask for it. God, in the person of Jesus, said to us “Ask and you shall receive”.

ST. VINCENT DE PAUL
St. Mary’s Conference of St. Vincent de Paul, Ovens/Kilmurry, wish to thank the Éire Óg Puc Fada Committee again this year for donating the proceeds of the recent event to us which amounted to €1,631. Further to discussion with the kind donors, it was agreed that, this year, the money would be shared with Cuan Mhuire, Farnanes who have been unable to fundraise these past two years.
Many thanks again for this welcome donation and we wish Éire Óg every good wish for the year ahead and success in all your activities.
