As the Cork & Ross Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes will not be taking place this year, the annual Collection towards the Lourdes Fund will not be held on the weekend, 12th/13th February.
Thank you for your continuous support to the Cork & Ross Diocesan Pilgrimage over the years.
We ask Our Lady & St. Bernadette to watch over us and protect ourselves and our families.
PRAYING THE PSALMS
No. 67: 2-3
God be merciful unto us, and bless us;
And cause his face to shine upon us;
That thy way may be known upon earth, thy saving health among all nations.
Today with gratitude and praise we make peace with our world, with everything in our life, acknowledging everything, light and shadow, as part of us, we become whole.
FEAST OF OUR LADY OF LOURDES
This Friday, 11th February is the World Day of Prayer for the Sick
Lourdes is a Place of Light, in a world of deep shadows. Lourdes has begun to welcome people back, as we mark World Day of Prayer for the Sick with the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, a Reflection:
There is a narrow path behind the Baths that quietly reaches the Grotto. Half way down there is a statue not noticed by many. It depicts a man on one knee looking out over the river Gave. He is blind. It is a statue of Bartimaeus, the blind man sitting by the roadside. Jesus asks him “what do you want me to do for you” ( Mark 10:50). We know the answer. In the Grotto of our hearts Jesus asks us the same question. On the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, World Day of Prayer for the Sick, we pray that we may be healed in the areas of our lives that need healing today.
BLESSING OF THE SICK
The Blessing of the Sick on the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes will be given during the 9.30am Mass in Ovens on Friday next, for those who would like to receive the blessing.
PRAYER TO OUR LADY OF LOURDES
Oh ever Immaculate Virgin, Mother of Mercy, Health of the Sick, you know my wants, my troubles, my sufferings. Look upon me with mercy. When you appeared in the Grotto of Lourdes, you made it a privileged sanctuary where you dispense your favours & where many sufferers have obtained the cure of their infirmities, both spiritual & corporal. I come, therefore, with unbounded confidence to implore your maternal intercession. My loving Mother obtain my Request. Amen.
