The Irish Bishops have asked for a Special Collection to be taken up at Masses on the weekend of 26th/27th March, next weekend, to support humanitarian efforts in Ukraine and especially the families and children who have had to flee their homeland in advance of the Russian invasion.
The proceeds of this Special Collection will be directed to Caritas Internationalis, which is the helping hand of the Church on the ground in the Ukraine and the surrounding region.
Please be as generous as you can.
Thank you.

SAINT JOSEPH
This Saturday, 19th March is the Feast Day of St. Joseph, husband of the Blessed Virgin Mary and legal guardian of Jesus.
He was a descendant of the House of David.

By trade Joseph was a carpenter.
St. Joseph’s life is a story without words. His life was a meeting place of faith, love and obedience. He bowed in unquestioning faith before the mystery of the Incarnation. His obedience to various directives he received was instant.
He was told by an Angel “ Rise, take the child and his mother” (Mat. 2:20). His position in the family was recognised by Mary ”Your Father and I have been looking for you anxiously”.
We can be sure of the power of the intercession of St. Joseph.
“And he went down with them to Nazareth and was obedient to them”.
Jesus, Mary & Joseph, I give you my heart and my soul.
Be with me on my way.

TRÓCAIRE
We welcome this weekend Mr. Pádraig Fitzgerald, a volunteer with Trócaire. He will speak to us on the work of Trócaire in several Third World Countries.
Thanks to all in our parish who have so generously supported this work over the years.

INSTRUMENTAL REFLECTION
So far only a few young musicians have offered to play a short Instrumental Reflection after Holy Communion at the Vigil Masses in Ovens & Farran Churches. We would love to hear from some more young people.

ART
As we look on the children’s art work in both Churches for Lá Fhéile Naomh Pádraig, we give thanks to them and their Teachers & Parents. Faith formation through art in the Children’s Faith lives and, of course, for First Penance, First Holy Communion & Confirmation.

Creator God, from the beginning of time we have desired to etch our mark on sand and soil and stone with the tools of finger, stick and chisel.
We added colour and shape with plants and oils, brush and palette, papier mache and acrylic, kiln and camera.

God of all beauty, in our capacity for beauty we are like you.
Continue to bless us with art and with artists.
Let us see your hand at work in theirs.
Amen.
