A PRAYER FOR STUDENTS
Dear Lord, as I prepare to sit the examination ahead of me, I pray that you will quiet any anxious thoughts inside me. When various distractions tempt me, could you help me remain focused and calm.
Please grant me the discipline to prioritise my studies and to be able to take my exam knowing that I have done my part. I pray that you will bring to mind what I have studied when I write, give me an understanding of each topic and peace when the time comes so that I might finish strong in Jesus’ matchless name, I pray.
Amen.
May we wish all students who commence their exams on Wednesday next every success.
Pentecost Sunday
This Sunday, 5th June we celebrate the Feast of Pentecost. It commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and other followers of Jesus while they were in Jerusalem celebrating the Feast of Weeks, as described in the Acts of the Apostles: (Acts 2: 1 to 31). Pentecost is celebrated on the 50th day from Easter Sunday.
This year Pentecost Sunday is designated as a Day of Prayer in Thanksgiving for the Diocesan Phase of the Universal Synod. Pentecost Sunday offers us all an opportunity to give thanks for the prayerful engagement and listening that has taken place across the country as we journey together synodally.
THE MONTH OF JUNE
June is the month of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The Feast Day is on Friday, 24th June.
Another Feast Day celebrated in June is the Feast of St. Anthony of Padua on Monday, June the 13th. On that day we bless the lilies in Ovens Church at the 9.30am Mass.
This year on June 19th we celebrate the Feast of Corpus Christi.
The Latin name for June is Junius, June contains the Summer Solstice, the day with the most daylight hours.
SCRIPTURE FOR JUNE
Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow, they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was arrayed like one of these.
Matthew 6: 28 to 29
We are God’s work of art, created in Christ Jesus to live the good life as from the beginning He has meant us to live it.
Ephesians 2:10
One thing I ask of the Lord, this only do I seek:
That I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life,
To gaze on the beauty of the Lord, to seek Him in his temple.
Psalm 27:4
EUCHARISTIC PROCESSION
Sunday the 19th of June is the Feast of Corpus Christi.
On that day, after the 11.30am Mass we will have our Eucharistic Procession, which will conclude with Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament in the Church.
The Diocesan Procession in the city will not be held this year and Bishop Fintan has invited each Parish to hold their own Procession.

With Your help that never fails.
Do not hide Your face from Your servant;
Answer quickly for I am in distress.

Seeking God’s help,
With confidence, with sure hope, knowing we are heard, accepting with gratitude what is sent.
