THE MOST HOLY TRINITY
Each year on the first Sunday after Pentecost we celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity, also known as Trinity Sunday.
Trinity Sunday celebrates the Christian Docterine of the Trinity, the 3 persons of God, The Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Although it wasn’t until 1334 that Pope John XX11 officially established the feast for universal observance in the Western Church, the mystery of the Holy Trinity has been the pulse of the Church’s life since the very beginning. The Trinity is “the central mystery of Christian faith and life, the source of all the other mysteries of Faith”.
Each time we bless ourselves or recite the Glory be to the Father, we honour the Holy Trinity.

FEAST OF ST. ANTHONY OF PADUA
On this Monday, 13th June, we celebrate the Feast of St. Anthony of Padua, Patron Saint of lost and stolen articles.
St. Anthony was a wonderful Franciscan preacher of The Word of God. He is usually portrayed holding the Child Jesus, a lily or a book or all three in his arms. His life is what every Christian’s life is meant to be:
A steady courage to face the ups and downs of life,
The call to love and forgive,
To be concerned for the needs of others,
To deal with crosses, great & small,
To have our feet solidly on the ground of trusting love & dependence on God.

BLESSING OF LILIES
At the 9.30am Mass in Ovens Church on this Monday morning lilies will be blessed.
If you wish to hand lilies in to the Church for blessing, you may do so on Sunday or bring them with you on Monday morning. There will also be some lilies available in the Church.
You may like to take a lily home to someone who is unwell or to a neighbour.

SCRIPTURE FOR JUNE
“Consider the lilies of the field, they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his glory was arrayed like one of these”.
Matthew 6: 28 to 29.

FEAST OF CORPUS CHRISTI
Next Sunday, 19th June we celebrate the Feast of Corpus Christi.
The Feast of Corpus Christi celebrates the Eucharist as the body of Christ. The name Corpus Christi is Latin for the Body of Christ. It is celebrated 60 days after Easter.

The Feast was instituted throughout the Church by Pope Urban 1V in 1264 & was made an obligatory feast for Catholics by Pope Clement V in 1311. Up to a few years ago Corpus Christi was celebrated on a Thursday but was then moved to the Sunday after Trinity Sunday.
EUCHARISTIC PROCESSION
After a lapse of a couple of years due to Covid, we will have our Eucharistic Procession on Sunday next, 19th June after the 11.30am Mass. It would be very fitting if children who have received their First Holy Communion recently would attend this Mass and lead the Procession, followed by the Congregation, some members of the choir and the Blessed Sacrament carried by Fr. Liam.
The procession will turn left at the main door, out the side gate, pass the Grotto, in the main gate and into the Church for Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament.
We invite all Parishioners to be present for this lovely occasion.

A long Summer’s Day is good ‘credit’. A sunny day in June offers a welcome respite. Daylight extends to it’s maximum in June. Enjoy. Summer is really here.
