FEAST OF CORPUS CHRISTI
EUCHARISTIC PROCESSION

This Sunday the Feast of Corpus Christi we will have our Eucharistic Procession after the 11.30am Mass.
The children who received their First Holy Communion on May 21st have been invited to attend and to lead the Procession, followed by the Congregation, some members of the choir and the Blessed Sacrament carried by Fr. Liam.
The procession will turn left at the main door, out the side gate, pass the Grotto, in the main gate and into the Church for Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament.
We invite all Parishioners to be present for this lovely occasion.

FEAST OF THE SACRED HEART
Friday next, 24th June is the Feast Day of The Sacred Heart of Jesus.
It is celebrated on the Friday after the Feast of Corpus Christi, or 19 days after the Feast of Pentecost. It speaks to us of Jesus’ love and care for us and through Jesus of God’s love for us.

In the late 17th Century Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque, a cloistered nun of the Visitation Order, received several private revelations of the Sacred heart, the first on December 27th, 1673 and the final one 18 months later. The visions revealed to her the form of the devotion, the chief features being reception of Holy Communion on the 1st Friday of each month, Eucharistic Adoration during a “Holy Hour” and the celebration of the Feast of the Sacred Heart. On June 11th 1899, Pope Leo X111 consecrated the entire human race to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
REFLECTION ON THE SACRED HEART OF JESUS
Jesus, whom Paul calls the ‘image of the unseen God’, shows us what God is like. Through the symbol of the heart, Jesus is pointing to the love of God, telling us that God loves us, all of us, always. ‘for this is how God loved the world: He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life’. The heart of Jesus reveals that God is not cold and distant, but has a warm, tender and loving concern for humanity and for all of creation. Love, only Love, is the motive of all that Jesus Christ did and said and suffered.
