FEAST DAY OF THE BIRTH OF OUR LADY
THURSDAY LAST, 8TH SEPTEMBER
We pray through this prayer:
O good and gentle Mother,
As we celebrate your birthday, wrap us in your mantle of love.
Protect us this day from all that would separate us from you and your precious Son.
Teach us to love as you do.
To forgive as Jesus does, and to reach out to others in need.
Keep us ever faithful and true as we seek to follow the teachings of your son.
Thank you for loving us,
dearest Mother.
Amen.
A THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
Maintain your Friendships
An important factor in inspiring us to be hopeful is the support of old friends.
Treasure these associations, it is so easy to be “out of sight, out of mind”. If you have old friends, don’t let them go.
For further reflection on the above from the Scriptures, please read Proverbs: 17:17.
SEASON OF CREATION
September through to October 4th, the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, is designated the Season of Creation. It is a time of thanksgiving for God’s Creation and for the earth, Our Common Home.
The beauty and marvel of Creation never ceases to proclaim how wonderful God must be, but we must be listening and observing. During the Season of Creation our prayers and actions may help us to listen to the voice of creation and so leave our earth better than we found it.
It is also beautifully summed up in the Offertory prayer of the Mass:
“Blessed are you Lord of All Creation.
Through your goodness we have this bread to offer, which earth has given and human hands have made, may it become for us the Bread of Life”.
ORDINATION
Please remember in your prayers, Rev. Ronan Sheehan, Newcestown Parish, who will be ordained to the Priesthood by Bishop Fintan, for the Cork and Ross Dioceses.
