New Venture to Pray Together

On Thursday, 20th October at 7pm, we are planning to join together to pray the Mysteries of Light, with the aid of audio visual, music from our multi lingual communities, scripture and reflection.
Each Church Community is being invited to participate in the decades.
On this occasion it will be held in St. Mary & St. John’s Church on Station Road, but, our dream is that each church will host some creative prayer time during the year.
All are welcome.

OCTOBER, MONTH OF THE HOLY ROSARY
The month of October each year is dedicated to the Most Holy Rosary.
Legend tells us that the Rosary as a form of prayer was given to St. Dominic by Mary, the Mother of Our Lord. The Feast of the Holy Rosary is celebrated on 7th October to honour the Blessed Virgin Mary in gratitude for the protection that she gives the Church in answer to the praying of the Rosary by the faithful.

The Rosary will be recited in Ovens Church on Friday next, 7th October at 2.30pm in honour of Our Lady of the Rosary. Everyone welcome.

COASTAL ROSARY FOR FAITH & LIFE IN IRELAND
On Sunday next, 9th October the Annual Coastal Rosary will take place at 2.30pm in Ovens Church.
Please join us to pray the Rosary for Life & Faith with thousands of people from around Ireland.

A THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
However insignificant, try to make time for one small act of service each day.
For further reflection from Scripture, please read St. Paul’s letter to the Ephesians (4:32)

A CHILD’S OBSERVATION
When you thought I wasn’t looking
When you thought I wasn’t looking, I saw you hang my first painting on the fridge, and I wanted to paint another one.
When you thought I wasn’t looking, I saw you feed a stray cat, and I thought it was good to be kind to animals.
When you thought I wasn’t looking I saw you make my favourite cake just for me and I knew that little things are special things.
When you thought I wasn’t looking, I heard you say a prayer and I believed there is a god I could always talk to.

OCTOBER SAFEGUARDING MONTH
During our safeguarding month in the Diocese, we ask you to keep in your prayers those affected by abuse, violence and war. Using the words of Khalil Gibran “Safeguarding the rights of others is the most noble and beautiful end of a human being”.
The Diocesan Adult Safeguarding Policy (adults at risk of abuse) is available on the Safeguarding pages of the

Diocesan Website: www.corkandross.org/safeguarding

ÁR DTEANGA FÉIN
Rinne Se Obair na gCapall
He did the heavy work. Literally, the work of horses. A phrase popular with sports commentators, describing the role of the player who does the unglamorous tackling and carrying work, as opposed to the “stars” who make the headlines.
Bain Triail As:
Obair éadrom. Light work.
