PARISH ASSEMBLY MEETING
The October Meeting of the Ovens/Farran Parish Assembly on this Monday, 17th October at 8pm in the Parish Centre.

OCTOBER, MONTH OF OUR LADY OF THE ROSARY
The Rosary means “Crown of Roses”. Our Lady has revealed that each time people say a Hail Mary they are giving her a beautiful rose and that each complete Rosary makes her a crown of roses.
With the Rosary we meditate the mysteries of Joy, Sorrow, Glory and of Light of Jesus and Mary. It is a prayer we can all say together with her, the Mother of God. With the Hail Mary we invite her to pray for us. Our \lady always grants our request. She joins her prayer to ours because what Mary asks she always receives. Jesus can never say no to whatever His Mother asks for.
Hail Mary, mother fair,
Filled with love for God,
Pray for us in all our needs,
Pray for us today.

REMINDER
The Family of Parishes, Ballincollig, Ballinora & Ovens/Farran will come together on this Thursday, 20th October at 7pm in the Church of St. Mary & St. John to pray the Mysteries of Light with the aid of audio visual, music, scripture and reflection.
Each Church Community is being invited to participate in the decades.
All are welcome.

HARVEST THANKSGIVING
This year the Harvest Thanksgiving Mass will be in Ovens Church on Sunday next, 23rd October at the 11.30am Mass.
As usual the children from both schools will have displays before the Altar in Farran & Ovens Churches.
At the procession before Mass and in the Offertory Procession, fruits of the harvest will be brought to the altar.

IF I HAD MY CHILD TO RAISE OVER AGAIN
If I had my child to raise all over again,
I’d finger-paint more and point the finger less.
I’d do less correcting & more connecting.
I’d take my eyes off my watch and watch with my eyes.
I would care to know less and know to care more.
I’d take more hikes & fly more kites.
I’s stop playing serious & seriously play.
I’d run through more fields & gaze at more stars.
I’d do more hugging & less tugging.
I would be firm less often & affirm much more.
I’d build self-esteem first & the house later.
I’d teach less about the love of power and more about the power of love.

NOVEMBER REMEMBRANCE MASS
The Remembrance Mass for those who died during the year (Nov 2021 to Nov 2022) will be held in Ovens Church on Friday, 4th November at 7.30pm.
We remember all those who died in our parish and also family members who died outside the parish.
If you would like to have your loved one prayed for at this Mass please hand in the name to either Farran or Ovens Church or to the parish office, as soon as possible please.
