FEAST OF CHRIST THE KING
This Sunday we celebrate the Feast of Christ the King.
In 1925 Pope Pius X1 established this Feast which emphasises the true Kingship of Christ. In 1969 Pope Paul V1 expanded the name of the feast to “Christ the King of the Universe” and moved the celebration of the feast to the last Sunday before the season of Advent. The earliest date on which the Feast can occur is 20th November and the latest is 26th November. The Feast of Christ the King points to the end of time when the Kingdom of Jesus will be established in all it’s fullness to the ends of the earth. It leads into Advent, when the Church anticipates Christ’s second coming.
The well known Hymn “Hail Redeemer King Divine” calls Jesus the “King of love on Calvary”.
There will be Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament in Ovens Church, commencing at 1pm and concluding with Benediction at 6pm.
Rosary will be recited every hour on the hour.
Evening Prayer at 5.45pm followed by Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament at 6pm.
CONFIRMATION 2023
The Confirmation young people of Scoil Mhuire, Farran & Scoil na nUamhanna, Ovens will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation on the 25th April and the 4th May, respectively.
Through that Sacrament they will receive the Gifts & Fruits of the Holy Spirit.
The first gift of the Holy Spirit is Wisdom.
Wisdom is the grace of being able to see everything with the eyes of God. Often we see things as we want to see them or according to our heart, with love, with hate, with envy. But this is not God’s eyes. Wisdom is what the Holy Spirit does within us so that we can see everything with God’s eyes.
This is the Gift of Wisdom.
SCRIPTURE REFLECTION FOR THE WEEK
Take a Power Nap
Rest is not doing “nothing”. Rest is repair. A five-minute nap during the day will help restore peaceful vitalities.

PARISH ASSEMBLY
Since 2006 there have been five Parish Assemblies in our Parish. Each has served our Parish of Ovens/Farran very well.
Our present Parish Assembly has completed it’s term & in fact has continued for a further year due to the Pandemic. Our sincere thanks to them for their work and dedication. Some members have completed 7 years, 2 terms & are not now eligible to be part of the 6th Parish Assembly.
We now need to renew our Parish Assembly. Anyone who would like to be part of it & the service it gives please contact: Siobhán: 086 066 7846, John; 087 220 5433, Fr. Liam or the Parish Office, as soon as possible please.
Anyone who served in any one of the first 4 Assemblies are now eligible to join again.
Sincere thanks to all Parish Assembly members who served since our first one in 2006.
