SCRIPTURE REFLECTION FOR CHRISTMAS
Lessons from a Baby
The birth of a baby is the personification of hope. It ought to remind you not only of a perfect creator, but also a perfect sustainer of life.
For further Reflection
Ecclesiastes 9:4. Romans 8:24.
ÁR DTEANGA FÉIN AM NA NOLLAG
Gura Maith an Mhaise Duit É
May it turn out for your good. Maise means benefit; as in, Nollaig faoi shéan is faoi mhaise dhuit ( A happy & prosperous Christmas to you).

Go raibh maith agat. Thank you.
Feast of the Baptism of The Lord
On Sunday, 8th January we celebrate the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord, by St. John the Baptist.
On that Sunday we will have the Prayer Service at 3pm in Ovens Church for all 76 children Baptised in our parish of Ovens/Farran during the past year.
It has been 3 years since we were able to have this ceremony. We invite the families of all the children baptised to the Prayer Service and afterwards for some light refreshments in the Parish Centre.
The families will be notified by post over the coming fortnight. In the past this ceremony has been very well received and well attended.
We hope to see as many as possible present this year also.
ÉIRE ÓG PUC FADA
The annual Tony Dineen Perpetual Puc Fada will take place on St. Stephens day on the Boreen Road at 2pm.
Registration from 1.30pm.
Proceeds of the day will go to local charities.
On Saturday night last at the Vigil Mass in St. John the Baptist Church, Ovens, a presentation was made to Monsignor Kevin O’Callaghan to mark his official retirement from Diocesan Ministry and to thank him for his dedicated service to the parishioners of the Parish of Ovens/Farran since 2013.
May the humility of the shepherds, the perseverance of the wise men, the joy of the angels & the peace of the Christ Child be God’s gift to you this Christmastide and always.
By Mervyn Stockwood.
Wishing all Parishioners a Holy, Happy & Peaceful Christmas
Fr. Liam, Monsignor Kevin & the Parish Assembly.
