FEAST OF CORPUS CHRISTI
This Sunday, we celebrate Corpus Christi, also known as the Solemnity of the Body & Blood of Christ.
This feast honours Jesus Christ, Truly & Substantially Present under the appearances of Bread & Wine. This Presence happens when, at the Consecration of the Mass, the Priest says the words which Christ Himself said over bread and wine “This is My Body”, “This is the chalice of My Blood, “Do this in Remembrance of Me”.
In former years Corpus Christi was celebrated on the Thursday and was a Holy Day of Obligation. Recently it was moved to the Sunday after the Most Holy Trinity.
A reminder of our Eucharistic Procession and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament which takes place after the 11.30am Mass on this Sunday.
We invite all Parishioners & First Holy Communion Children to be present for this lovely occasion.

CHILDREN’S PRAYER BEFORE HOLY COMMUNION
Lord Jesus, come to me.
Lord Jesus, give me your love.
Lord Jesus, come to me & give me yourself.
Lord Jesus, friend of children, come to me.
Lord Jesus, you are my Lord & my God.
Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

After Holy Communion
Lord Jesus, I love & adore you, You are a special friend to me.
Welcome, Lord Jesus, O welcome. Thank you for coming to me.

Thank you, Lord Jesus, O thank you for giving yourself to me.
Make me strong to show your love where ever I may be.

Be near me, Lord Jesus, I ask you to stay close by me forever and love me I pray.
Bless all of us children in your loving care and bring us to Heaven to live with you there.

FEAST OF THE SACRED HEART
On Friday next, 16th June we celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus.
The Feast is celebrated on the third Friday after Pentecost. The earliest possible date for this Feast Day is 29th May and the latest date is July 2nd.

THE MESSAGE OF THE SACRED HEART OF JESUS
John explains to us that God is love and it is through our love for each other that we come to know God and serve him. John tells us about the importance of Christ’s sacrifice, “so that we might have life through Him”, and while we have not seen God, He calls us to have faith: “No one has ever seen God. Yet, if we love one another, God remains in us, and His love is brought to perfection in us”. We are not led blindly into a community of faith, but rather we are given a simple rule, to love others as God loves us.
By following this commandment we remain one with God. This is the message of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Let us continue to keep all students in our thoughts & prayers as they head into another week of exams.
PRAYER FOR EXAMINATION TIME
God of Wisdom: Guide me as I chose questions and in the way I answer them.
God of Peace: Keep me calm so that I will do the best that I can.
God of understanding: Help me put all of this into perspective.
I ask these prayers in the name of Jesus, friend of students. Amen.

CEMETERY MASS
The next Cemetery Mass will be in Athnowen Cemetery on Friday, 7th July at 7.30pm.

FEAST OF ST. ANTHONY
On this Tuesday, 13th June we celebrate the Feast of St. Anthony of Padua.
St. Anthony is the patron Saint of lost items.

He is usually portrayed holding the Child Jesus or a lily, or a book, or all three in his arms.
This year the lilies will be blessed in Farran Church at the 9.30am Mass. You may hand in lilies to be blessed to either Farran or Ovens Church. The lilies handed in to Ovens will be brought to Farran for the blessing and can be collected in Ovens later.
It would be nice to bring a lily to a neighbour, relative or friend who may be unwell at this time.
