In the autumn of 2006 a group of parishioners was elected to serve as the Parish Assembly for a period of three years.
The first Chairperson was Matt Murphy, Ovens
The first Secretary was Rita O’Neill, Farran.
The Assembly consists of 14 persons.
There are 2 Working Groups:
Liturgy & Faith Development.
Community Care, Youth, Outreach & Welcome
The full group meet together at the start, subgroups will meet for a period , and reconvene before concluding.
The 5th Parish Assembly was recently put in place.
The process of doing this was as follows:
June 2018:
A working group was formed to prepare for the election of the new Assembly before the end of 2018.
September 2018:
Nomination Papers were given out after Masses in Farran & Ovens and were returned to the Churches, Parish Centre and Parochial House by September 22nd/23rd. They were then counted and the nominees were contacted and invited to become a member of the Parish Assembly.
The first Formation Meeting was held in the parish centre on October 24th and was facilitated by Sr. Karen Kent of the Pastoral Development Office.
The Second Formation Evening for the 5th Assembly was held in the Parish Centre on November 7th again facilitated by Sr. Karen Kent.
The final meeting for the formation of the Parish Assembly was held in the Parish Centre on 14th November and Sr. Karen also attended this meeting.
First Meeting was held in December, 2018 at 8pm.
The following officers were elected:
Chairperson: John McCarthy, Mylane, Ovens.
Vice Chair: Kathleen Lowney, Knockanemore, Ovens.
Secretary: Siobhan O’Sullivan, Carrigane, Ovens.
