A medieval church was sited in Carrigane east of the river Bride. The present church was rebuilt for Church of Ireland use. The Church which was completed in 1756 has been closed for some years when the Church of Ireland parish was amalgamated with Carrigrohane. Some burials still take place there. The building has been sold more than once. A proposal to have a Crematorium there was very controversial, and local opposition prevented it.
The Caves are close by but are no longer accessible. This is the oldest Church site in the area. The present building was preceded by others.
