Marriage & Baptism Preparation

Pre-Marriage Courses

Couples are required to take part in a pre-marriage course. It is advisable to make enquiries about these as early as possible. The ideal time to do such a course would be before the date is set. This rarely happens, so booking should be made as early as possible after setting the date.

The following organisations are approved by the Diocese of Cork & Ross:

Baptism Preparation Meetings

Baptism Preparation Meetings are held in the Parish Centre, Ovens each month. The meetings take place on Saturdays at 11am. The parents & baby meet with the members of the Baptismal Team for a short talk on the importance of the Sacrament of Baptism & the ceremony itself is discussed.
These meetings have been held now since 2010 and are very well received. The parents enjoy a cup of tea after the meeting and they get to know each other.
Baptisms are held on Saturdays at 3.30pm in the Church of St. John the Baptist, Ovens and at 4.30pm in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Farran.
If possible Baptisms to be booked 4 weeks in advance.
